PORTUGAL

Portugal golf course

With excellent views over the Serra de Sintra, Quinta da Beloura is a flattish, wooded course surrounded by trees which offers a great game of golf.

Being the most recent golf course on the Estoril coast and covering 60 hectares (150 acres), it is situated half way between Cascais and Sintra (25 kms from Lisbon). The project was the work of American architect Rocky Roquemore.

Quinta da Beloura, offers a pleasant game without being too exhausting. The eighteen holes, which give excellent views over the Serra de Sintra mountain range, total a distance of 5, 878mts. (6,430yds.) Par 72.

Along the fairways, 40,000 various tree species have been planted such as oak, pine, palm, cedar, and magnolias. Thus giving each hole a beautiful frame-work of trees, this ambiance is enhanced, by the many lakes.

The holes with water hazards are those which a lot of players will find the most challenging. For instance: the 16th. and 17th. are parallel, and their narrow fairways are separated by a lake. Both holes demand very precise driving.

At the 18th., Par 4 and 384mts.(420yds) long, the green is protected by the largest lake and provides an exciting climax to the round.
